Developing Powerful Networking Partners
I'm sitting here at my desk looking back at this last years OCEN (Orange County Executive Network) www.myocen.com events and experiences. With just 3 1/2 months left in the year I'm wondering how many of our members are experiencing the business growth they had planned for. In difficult times like what our economy is experiencing now some people may be happy just to be able to retain their current clients. Sometimes we are even willing to take a step back in our business growth in order to put a foundation in place for more targeted niche market growth.
What ever the situation is with those of you reading this blog, I'd like to suggest you take a moment to evaluate the business relationships you have with your networking partners and think about what you could do to enhance and improve on those relationships. Could you come hear them speak when it's their time to be in the memberspotlight like Cap Poore with The Client Touch this month? www.theclienttouch.com How about supporting them by inviting guests to the breakfast event? When is the last time you called and asked to meet them for a cup of coffee to catch up on how they are doing?
With the pace that we all have to run in business these days we can only committ to a couple outside groups to participate and build relationships in. OCEN has laid a great foundation as a values based group and we are committed to attracting like minded business professionals. This next Wednesday, September 17th at 7:30 a.m. we will have Harold Taber Jr. speak to us about The Hansen's Beverage Company Story. Taber is the former CEO and still remains on the board of directors. We will meet at The Pacific Club in Newport Beach.
I believe OCEN can help you build Powerful Networking Partners if you will do your part to reach out and develop the relationships with other members. It's also important to bring guests so we can keep growing.
Let's give this last quarter a boost in activities that build relationships and create business resources and opportunities for growth. I'd love to hear your feedback! Debbie

Successful Executive Networking
Hello Executive Friends,
I've networked with executives for the last 16 years. It started with a need to grow my business as a Financial Advisor and it grew into a passion. When it comes right down to it those that get the most out of networking at the professional level have become relationship experts. They have learned to put the other person's needs first, they've learned to listen well and most importantly they have learned to be a likeable person.
What do I mean by likeable? They are warm, friendly and smile alot. They care about how they can help you and add value to your life and business. It's not all about them. They are positive and leave you with a good feeling after the meeting.
I occasionnaly hear complaints from executives that feel they aren't getting the results they want and they blame it on everything and everyone but themselves. I hear complaints that people aren't willing to meet with them or help them. If you are not getting what you want out of your networking group I would take time to do some introspection. Are you known as being negative and a complainer? If so, people will avoid you like the plague! Are you asking people enough questions to get to know them in order to help them? If not, start now. Perhaps hiring a relationship coach to help you see your blind spots will help propel you into a whole new direction in your business and networking.
These are just a few things from the OCEN Playbook that we all should revisit on occasion. Let's BE what it is you want from others!
If you are at the executive level and want to be part of a unique values based group, come visit Orange County Executive Network this week. Details of Thursday's Breakfast meeting with guest speaker Dale Burke are at www.myocen.com

Executives Blogging for Business
I'm sitting here with the New Media Evangelist, Ron Ploof. We just got OCEN's first blog set up! Ron has come here to my office to help me learn how to set up and run our blog. It only took 3 minutes to set up! Amazing! I had no idea it would be so easy. But wait...now I have to write something!
Ron will be speaking at Orange County Executive Network's breakfast event at The Pacific Club on July 31st at 7:30 a.m. He has promised to give us some intriguing trivia about blogging and the events of March 5th 1770. Not only that, he has real tips and applications that you can walk away from our meeting with to get your own business blog up and running. He claims that blogging brings influence to a company such as Google search rankings and establishs you as an expert in your industry.
