Hello Executive Friends,
I've networked with executives for the last 16 years. It started with a need to grow my business as a Financial Advisor and it grew into a passion. When it comes right down to it those that get the most out of networking at the professional level have become relationship experts. They have learned to put the other person's needs first, they've learned to listen well and most importantly they have learned to be a likeable person.
What do I mean by likeable? They are warm, friendly and smile alot. They care about how they can help you and add value to your life and business. It's not all about them. They are positive and leave you with a good feeling after the meeting.
I occasionnaly hear complaints from executives that feel they aren't getting the results they want and they blame it on everything and everyone but themselves. I hear complaints that people aren't willing to meet with them or help them. If you are not getting what you want out of your networking group I would take time to do some introspection. Are you known as being negative and a complainer? If so, people will avoid you like the plague! Are you asking people enough questions to get to know them in order to help them? If not, start now. Perhaps hiring a relationship coach to help you see your blind spots will help propel you into a whole new direction in your business and networking.
These are just a few things from the OCEN Playbook that we all should revisit on occasion. Let's BE what it is you want from others!
If you are at the executive level and want to be part of a unique values based group, come visit Orange County Executive Network this week. Details of Thursday's Breakfast meeting with guest speaker Dale Burke are at www.myocen.com
